By the sea at Christmas

Hello, I hope you had a lovely Christmas however you spent it. We had fun following our family traditions that have been built up through the years. Our pre Christmas walk contained constant reminders of Christmas ....

A holly tree full of berries by the sea shore

Pine trees reflected in the water

     and a herd of deer.

 Christmas does
eventually comes to those who wait patiently!

One of our Christmas Day traditions is a walk by the sea - in contrast to the pictures above it was quite windy and cold, and it was nice to retreat home for our Christmas dinner.

Christmas is forever, not for just one day,
for loving, sharing, giving, are not to put away
like bells and lights and tinsel, in some box upon a shelf
The good you do for others is good you do yourself.
-Norman Wesley Brooks

I hope your Christmas was filled with loving, sharing and giving and joy too.

  6. I love the holly tree by the sea! Good to see you had a walk by the sea on Christmas Day, I didn't get down to the beach, we went to family who are far from the sea! But at least I could still look out the window at the ocean. Sx

  9. So similar yet so different Christmas by the sea, we have a huge holly tree in the garden 30ft x10ft that was full of berries a month a go. I went to pick a few sprigs for the house it was bare all the birds had eaten them, no blue skies up here snow filled grey clouds :-( your walk looks tropical by comparison.

  12. The walks are a lovely tradition. I am a bit envious as we've had nothing but rain so far and have stayed indoors practically all the time. I saw you had Christmas crackers on the table. I'd like to try those one day.

  16. Lovely post Sarah. We enjoyed our traditional walk on Boxing morning which we found exhilarating and were lucky with the weather - blue skies and sunshine. We had two days of visiting and being fed and watered (should say wined) but did miss the laying of a pretty table for guests with all the trimmings. Good job really as I forgot to buy crackers! Yours looks lovely.

  17. Such a perfect Christmas Day! We also take a walk on the South Eastern Coast of Ireland where this year we saw a sea otter dip into the huge waves. Many thanks for sharing your life down by the sea and for supporting me over the last year with such thoughtful and kind comments. May your 2014 be a wonderful year for you in your beautiful part of the world:~)

  18. It was very busy here in Brixham on Boxing day with the traditional family walk and some nice weather too. Agree with other comments that your first photo looks like a tropical beach. Lovely to see the deer and your family out beside the sea.

  19. What a lovely Christmas tradition. We too took a walk along the beach on Christmas Day, but poor Steve was home ill. It was in the 80s so we were in shorts and bathers were out without wetsuits.

    Your Christmas table looked beautiful.
