A frosty start

We awoke to the first frost this morning. As I walked past some of the neighbours scraping their car windscreens before their journeys into work. I was so glad to have a few days off and could admire the scenery in all its glory instead!

Living by the sea the frost was not too heavy but it still gave the mobile homes - now mainly empty a white coating.

Sunrise is always one of my favourite times of the day ......

and watching the sun rise over our old home town of Weymouth in the distance, was a moment to savour.

There was a thin line of mist as the warmer water flowing out from the harbour met the colder sea water.

and the hummocks of grass captured the colour of the sun.

Thank you for all the lovely comments welcoming Tavi.  He had his second injections today, so we have another week before he can joining us for short walks and meeting other dogs. Tavi is keeping us amused in the house and garden with his cheeky antics. Some of this favourite toys are those he has captured from elsewhere in the house ......

He has looking with interest at the bottom shelf of this bookcase this morning, I'm not sure how much longer the items will remain here!

  Until next time.

  3. It's amazing that you should have your first frost when we only had ours this weekend up here. Well, we had some a couple of weeks ago but it melted away in no time. Your landscape photos are beautiful. Around here we haven't seen the sun for quite some time now.

    1. Morning is such a lovely time of the day, the light is so special then, and the stillness. Beautifully captured by you. I'm enjoying the first frosts, even if it does mean I have to wrap up warmer. Tavi is so sweet, I do miss having a dog about the house.

  6. Wow. I can't muster any other words to describe those photos.

And I swear the time between getting our Baker and being able to finally take him outdoors dragged so much! Can't wait to see some fab shots of Tavi playing outside.

  19. We have a had a little frost today. This morning was the first morning I actually felt cold as I got out of bed. The boys were thrilled that I voluntarily put the heating on! Beautiful sunrises. Aren't we lucky to live so close to the sea!

  21. I remember those early "chew everything" days! And I still have reminders when I look too closely at my furniture legs! Your photographs are beautiful. The sea offers so much serenity within it's powerful forces. We are going to have snow before Thanksgiving--practically unheard of in the mid-Atlantic region.

  22. The landscape is so beautiful when it is covered with frost. Your pictures are, as always, breathtaking. Tavi's ears are hilarious - Fergus's looked just like that when he was a puppy. I think your bookcase contents are in grave danger. Please keep posting lots of puppy pictures along with your lovely seaside photos. :-)

  23. That is one cute puppy dog :) I was surprised yesterday morning when I got to work at 6.45 and people said they were defrosting the cars, mine wasn't frosted at all but Mr D said his was. They were parked on the same street but facing opposite directions, mine was facing the way the sun comes up. Interesting, think I'll face that way more often lol!

  35. Yes we have settled down so well in our new home. Last week I passed our old house and had no feelings for it. This surprised me as we had lived there for so long. Sarah x

  36. We had a frost too but still the nasturtiums are flowering as well as lots of other things hanging on - very strange. But fog has taken precedence this week- so I savour looking at your lovely shots of blue clear skies - beautiful.

  41. Oh - I'm so pleased that Tavi has such a lovely home. As soon as I read this post (I haven't been around for while so had missed the introduction), I did wonder whether Tavi came from Tavistock. We too, loved Tavistock and I hope to go back there later on next year - just love the Pannier market! Tavi's a complete sweetheart and looks just so cheeky and mischievous!

  45. Dear Sarah,

Your pictures are absolutely breath taking. What a scenery! There's something special with those first days of frost when the whole landscape is covered by a white blanket and everything seem so bright and crisp. And Tavi... how sweet he is.♥

  46. HI Sarah,
Beautiful photos and sunrise is also my favorite time of the day too. You little Tavi is soooo adorable. They are so fun at the age and yes, you need to keep watch on where they are at, at all times. With Opie, I had a lot of toys for him but he did manage to chew few things. He is pretty good about leaving thing alone.
I'm glad you enjoyed the photos on my post.
    Have a wonderful day.
    Blessings!

  48. Hi Sarah, I'm catching up with blog reading when I can and have just read through your recent posts. So pleased to read that Tavi has joined your family, what fun to have a puppy in the house! Love your frosty photos, especially the tufts of grass, wow, so beautiful. We've had just one morning of frost here in NW London, last Saturday, and it was all melted by mid-morning, leaving finger numbing cold behind (I managed just one hour in the garden before fingers complained!)
