Growing up

A year ago today we welcomed Tavi into our home and family .....

It's hard to remember just how tiny he was....

and how anything left on the floor would be taken or chewed.

Tavi may now be much larger than Twinkle but she is still the boss!

He has always loved running and playing on the beach and paddling in the water. He even enjoys having baths, which is just as well the number of times he finds something smelly to roll in!

A few steps from our front door are numerous footpaths,, and so he is equally at home in the countryside too......

He has bought us so much joy and laughter, provided a companion in my husband's semi-retirement, given us extra friends both human and animal, accompanied us as we explore our new locations, improved our fitness on the numerous walks we have taken and he has also appeared on this blog many times!

Terriers aren't the easiest animals to train they have a very independent streak. Our home may be muddier and hairier and our pockets may be full of dog biscuits, but we wouldn't be without him!

  4. He does look full of beans! And mischief. But what a great decision to bring him into the family. Like CJ, I'm just amazed that a year has gone by so quickly.

  6. Gosh, time flies! A year old already Tavi! I don't think Westies truly mature until they are about 3...and they never give up some of their puppy traits. It is great to see Tavi and Twinkle together :)

  9. Happy Adoption Day, Tavi! I loved seeing so many photos of Tavi and I have my own Westie. :-) I can't get enough of them. They are a wonderful companion. Gabriel gets all upset when he sees deer in his yard, so now I've started letting him out to chase them away. At 7 he still runs like the wind and looks so proud of himself when he comes running back to me. We're situated in the middle of our 2.5 acres and he only chases them to the end of our property, which is quite a sprint. I know he'd love to run the hills and beach with Tavi. We got our cat after Gabriel, but she quickly established she's the boss which is pretty funny when it comes to Terriers who think they own everything within sight.

  10. Oh my goodness! What gorgeous pics of him as a puppy! Dogs are brilliant. We've had ours for two and a half years now and can't imagine life without her, so I know just what you mean. (Although we didn't have the joy of puppyhood!)

  11. I am chuckling, laughing, smiling....Tavi is a WINNER! Those Westies make us laugh; a neighbor has two of them that she walks an we often run into her on our walks. She calls them the BROTHERS and are they ever scrappy and adorable. AND they too love to roll in unpleasant materials...tteeeheheheheeeee

These terriers steal you heart. LOVE TAVI!!!!!

  12. Tavi is one handsome little man! Terriers are the best of characters I think and I totally agree that they're fantastic company and great for improving fitness (I've never walked so much since we got our pup!). Time goes so quickly doesn't it :) x

  15. How very very cute he is. Yes indeed, terriers are hard to train (although they will do just about anything for a biscuit!) Oh the love they give you. Please, do keep posting pictures and stories about him!

  16. Hooray for Tavi he is so adorable and your love for him really shows. Twinkle knows cats rule! Happy year anniversary.

  18. I am completely smitten with Tavi! It's amazing a whole year has flown by. That photo of him stretched out on top of the hill with the countryside in the background is stunning. I think you should enter it in a contest. I laughed at your statement about terriers not being the easiest animals to train. Truer words were never spoken! :-)

  22. Hi Sarah! Thanks for sharing Tavi with us :) Please give him more love pats from me. I have just scrolled back and caught up with your posts since the first part of October. You have captured so many beautiful views! I love the colors of Autumn you have shared and as always love seeing the sea in all its glory. I am still getting used to the change in time/light, also. Wishing you a happy week xx

  25. The title of your blog drew me in and when I found you lived in the UK, I was hooked. I own a Westie named Molly and she was born in Ireland in a cottage. The owner's son lives in the US and sell his families Westie online. He brings them over when they are weaned by plane and fit in a small carrier under his seat. My Molly was already a traveler when I picked her up at the Indianapolis, Indiana airport. She is now 15 years old and has been my soul mate. She is with me 24/7.

I enjoyed reading about Daisy and now Tavi. He is adorable and going to keep you entertained with his antics for a long time. Thanks for sharing your fur babies and your wonderful adventure of life by the sea.

  31. A very cute companion I'm sure! If we got a pup, it would be a westie too, I just LOVE them. Right now though we have no pets. One never feels alone when one has a pet and daily or twice daily walks ensure you get the exercise too...so for that reason alone I do wish we had a pup like yours! Happy week for you Sarah!
