Walking on the wild side

The best laid plans.....

This blog is meant to be about ' Down by the Sea', but current posts have only involved an update about the garden so not doubt new visitors will be a bit confused! Over the months I have created posts and never published them and if it wasn't for the regular ' Through the Garden' Series I would probably have stopped blogging completely!  Having started this blog back in December 2011 I have obviously seen many blogging friends come and go, some having stopped have never regained their wings so I'm not sure where this one will end but I know how lucky I am to live in a wonderful part of the country and have enjoyed sharing images of it all around the world.

The reason why my blogging has fallen a bit along the roadside has been the lack of much spare time since I got involved voluntarily in setting up a Visitors Centre in the Bay. It has been an amazing journey with challenges and good times and during half term last week we reached 30,000 visitors since we opened in August 2018! In the last month we have won an award from Dorset Best Village Award for Community Heritage and a gold award from Dorset Tourism for Best New Tourism Business. This is a recognition of the efforts of all of those who have worked on the project, paid and voluntary, to make it such a success!

Enough of me, why not enjoy some images taken back in May and June, those spring and summer days seem a long time ago, such a contrast to the temperatures now!

I hope to share some more images soon but if you want to see more you will find me posting more regularly on Instagram here.

Wishing you a happy weekend.
Sarah x

  1. Beautiful pictures Sarah - I miss your posts but as you are doing something so worthwhile with your time I will bear the disappointment of infrequent blogging from you. Enjoy Christmas. x

  2. Dorset is Gods own ...never an argument there..I was told it
as a boy..AND..never forgotten it....And further proof is in
the photos seen here..especially in and the Bay and Bridport
itself..I'm just up the road in Blandford, Dorset..and for forty
odd years work this entire area..Loved it so much, even being
offered promotion, more money, bigger car..I turned it all down..
Why? Because they wanted me to move..AND..move to London
    of ALL places..Hell itself..! :(.

Hope l can enjoy some more photos on here..The countryside..
I love of course..And, if there's one side to walk on..it has to be
    the Wild~side...! :).

  3. I hope you don't stop blogging. Having lived down in Dorset I love to read your blog. I don't have much time for blogging due to work, so I start a post and add photos and go back to it when I've something to add until I think 'time to post it'. I don't have Instagram, though I know this is the way people are going now. Beautiful photos of a beautiful summer. Best, jane x

  4. It is so nice to see a post from you, Sarah. I followed you sporadically for years as I have been in and out of blogging myself. Ii hope you don't quit---I will look you up on IG -although I don't follow that too closely. xo Diana

  5. Such beautiful photos!

You have spent your time on a wonderful project. A treasure for the community for years to come! Well done!

  6. I love your gorgeous pix!! Please don't stop blogging; I love visiting your neck of the woods!

  7. What a treat to be transported back to summer with your wonderful photos, Sarah! And I'd love to live in that little pink cottage with those wonderful views, pure bliss. Like you, I've not had much time for blogging, it seems that the older I get, the busier life gets - there's always something that takes precedence over writing but I hope to amend that next year. I do hope you manage to keep blogging, I always enjoy reading and seeing your posts. Have a wonderful christmas, Caro xx

  8. Your photographs of lovely Dorset bring a tear to my eye - and I'm looking forward to calling in at the Visitor Centre when I next get to the chance to wander in the direction of West Bay. Thank you for your blog, and a very good Advent and merry Christmas to you!

  9. Oh my goodness, what glorious photos. The first one is absolutely gorgeous, and the one with the pink house and all the cow parsley in front of it and all those flowers. What a tonic in these short winter days. I do love the winter, but pictures of summer are all the more gorgeous for the contrast. I am very happy that you are still blogging, but well done on the Visitor Centre, I know how much work you have put into it. The awards are very well deserved and 30,000 visitors - wow. You have been part of an amazing thing. CJ xx

  10. What a lovely selection of summery photos. Beautiful. Hope you do have time to pop by and post. It’s lovely to have news from your corner. So many lovely bloggers seem to be falling by the wayside. Have a good weekend. B x

  11. The visitor centre sounds great! A lovely set of photos. My blogging has suffered this year too... too much work and not enough play.

  12. Congratulations - that sounds hugely rewarding, both for you, and your visitors!

  13. I love your lovely photos and the sea holds a special place in my heart and life as I spend a lot of my time on an island on the coast of Maine, usa. I enjoy your blog so hope that you will continue posting!

  14. As always BEAUTIFUL pictures...
    Love from Titti

  15. Your photos are a bit of bright and warm summer here on the dark coast of Vancouver Island in Canada. Lovely

  16. I have been in love with Dorset since I first visited Dorchester in 2016 (and again in April this year). So I hope you will continue to post photos because I can't visit every season or year.

  17. Thanks for the lovely photos, Sarah and congratulations on the success of the Visitors Centre. Where is the photo of the sunken lane taken?

    1. We have lots of sunken lanes around here, that one was near Bridport Hospital near Allington Hill. Thanks for the congratulations so in the delay in replying! Sarah x
