A look back at 2012

.

This picture above sums up 2012 for me, encompassing all the rain we have had all year and also the celebrations during the summer of the Queens Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics, especially with the sailing events taking place in our home town.

I have chosen my favourite photographs that we have taken  down by the sea during 2012 ,all but 2 are from Dorset. The mosaic was created from Mosaic Maker I have tried Pic Monkey but I originally started using Mosaic maker and somehow find it easier, both of these enable you to be creative for free.

Unfortunately 2012 has ended for us with some bad news.We were told on Christmas Eve that my dear husband and companion for the last 30 years has prostrate cancer. He certainly isn't alone, as this is the most common cancer in men, with over 30,000 new cases every year in the UK. For us, it is a new challenge that we would rather not have had, but we will try and remain positive.

Looking forward to more inspiration and hopefully more sunshine in 2013! Hope you have a great New Year.

Welcome to my new followers Stone Angel and Rabbit Quilter, thank you also to everyone for their lovely comments in my last post.

  18. Sarah, I've just read your post. It's such a shake up when you get news like this and your life moves in a completely new direction...I know what you're going through. You sound resolute and positive which is the only way to be to wade through the months ahead but you WILL find the strength. My Dad had prostate cancer and all was well after treatment. Like you say, it does seem to be one of the 'better' cancers to get if there can be such a thing. Big cyber hugs to you both and remember you have all your blogging friends to lean on too. 21. Meine liebe kleine Meerjungfrau,

    sei lieb umarmt deine Babsi

  22. Liebe kleine Meerjungfrau,

  34. Hi Sarah - I have been away in Scotland for the New Year so only just picked up your sad news. My thoughts and prayers are with you both. I remember all too well the day I had my diagnosis and it took a while to fully sink in but that was back in 2008 and I continue to be well at the moment. All I can say is keep positive as the treatments available now have such a good success rate. Viv xx

  35. My dear friend I am sorry to hear of the news. All I can say is that my Dad had prostate cancer for 30 years and died last year (but not from it) aged 85. Fingers, toes and everything else crossed for you both. Sending you a big hug from Ireland and across the sea that separates us. X

  36. Sorry to hear about the health challenges you are facing as we enter 2013. However, as other followers have indicated, the quality of treatments available for these things has developed enormously in recent years. Our very best wishes to you and your husband at this time.

  37. Health worries are horrible - no other word for them. I wish your husband a speedy recovery though you must both be terribly worried. My husband will be having a hip operation soon but so much more complicated because of his cardiac problems. It's good to keep going though and I love your photos - and tip for doing mosaics. I've battled with some other programs but have just made one using mosaic maker - easy peasy! Best wishes - Adaliza

  38. Dear Sarah,

Please know that, from across the sea, here in France, there is somebody sending you many positive thoughts and wishes. I am very sorry to hear about your husband's illness. My father, who is now ninety and in wonderful health, also suffered the begininings of prostate cancer around eleven years ago. He made a very speedy recovery. I pray your husband will be fighting fit by the end of this new year.

Thank you so much for your lovely blog which always calls me back, just like the sea.
