A new arrival
We have a new arrival in the house - please meet Jackson.
He is a very handsome tom cat who is five years old. We weren't planning to have another cat so soon after we had lost Twinkle. While looking on the Cats Protection League web site our daughter was astonished to see a picture of Jackson, who needed a new home. (She already knew him, as he had lived in one of the locations she visited in her job and she would often come home and mention him.) It was therefore difficult not to take him into our home....
He is very friendly and especially enjoys sleeping, eating and being groomed. It has taken a while for Tavi and Jackson to get used to each other. It does feel as if they are getting there - we did find them both asleep on the same bed today!
Jackson has just started going outside and he is enjoying exploring the new territory! He hasn't been used to large fields and lots of catmint plants before. Jackson is the third rescue cat that we have had and he has settled in much more quickly than our previous cats. Have you taken in any rescue animals?
I am very busy at the moment so have to apologise for spending less time on the internet at the moment.
Wishing you a lovely and sunny weekend.
Sarah x
Hello, Jackson! Enjoy the beautiful English countryside and coasts with Tavi!
ReplyDeleteWhat a handsome boy he is !
ReplyDeleteAnd a happy one to have found his forever home and companions.

Love that last shot of Jackson. He's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely boy. It's a busy time of year. Enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteHe already looks like the master of the place, the cute little fellow. Cats are wonderful that way. You may remember that my daughter took a rescue cat last year when the older one of her Maine Coons suddenly died. The rescue cat must have had it hard earlier as it took quite a while for her to settle in and become friends with Sheena, the remaining Maine Coon. I am happy to hear Jackson and Tavi have started to get along.
ReplyDeleteWelcome Jackson!
ReplyDeleteWe did have a rescue cat--a kitten hid in our jeep engine when we lived in Indonesia and amazingly it wasn't killed when my husband started the jeep. We just had to take her in.
Aww I'm so sorry about Twinkle. How sad... Jackson looks very handsome. I'm sure he'll be a wonderful addition to your family. xox
ReplyDeleteHello Jackson! Our Poetry was a rescue cat. I wasn't ready for her either--but there she was on Petfinder.com and I couldn't let her get away! Her profile said she'd been fostered in a household of dogs so I knew she'd be OK with Gabriel. He's been great with her. Being a year older it's Poetry who sneaks up on him sometime and gives him a swat. I love Jackson's markings--very handsome indeed.
ReplyDeleteGood morning, Sarah, first I want to ask if you got my last two mails, because I have got no answer?
ReplyDeleteJackson is a beautiful cat, also you dog - we like them both!
Sigrun
That's strange I have answered both of them. Have they gone into your junk email. I will resend and see if that works. Sarah x
DeleteDear Sarah
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely boy Jackson is and how happy he looks. We were adopted by our black and white cat (who looks very like yours, even down to the different coloured eye 'whiskers' although ours is fatter - I blame the steroids he has to control his itching)) seven years ago. He had belonged to someone as he had been neutered, but chose to come and live with us and is a very much loved part of the family.
Best wishes
Ellie
Ah! He's lovely...But are'nt they all....! :).
ReplyDeleteAnd, what a lovely name...just think, if you
had another four...you'd have the Jackson 5...!
ABC...! :).
As soon as our son saw a picture of Jackson he realised the reason for his name. I've got that song in my head now ... takes me back to my childhood!

Welcome Jackson...love those green eyes!
ReplyDeleteHe's a keeper. I dreamt of my cats last night. Since I lived so long on a farm, I took in many dogs and cats. Loved them all.
ReplyDeleteJackson is quite handsome and looks like he enjoys his surroundings.
ReplyDeleteSo cute! He look´s like an calm guy :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend, take care...
Titti
Jackson is a very handsome cat! I'm amazed that he and Tavi are starting to get along already. I've had Fergus for over five years, and he and our cat Emily have never been friends. Although I do think they actually enjoy fighting with each other. :-)
ReplyDeleteThey manage to find their way to you, don't they? Am I remembering correctly that Twinkle chose you too, way back? He's lovely, and looks very happy to be there. Teddy was a rescue x
ReplyDeleteAah so lovely that you have another cat. Jackson looks lovely and I'm so glad that he is settling in well with Tavi
ReplyDeleteso cute and adorable!
ReplyDeleteA very handsome fellow, and lucky to have been found by you!
ReplyDeleteAll our cats have been rescues, from the shelters, or our doorstep.
ReplyDeleteThomas says hi to Jackson. Happy cats both!
He was meant to come to you, wasn't he? I've recently taken on a rescue dog from The Cinnamon Trust and he's settled in really well. He's nearly 7 years old and had never been socialised, trained or even exercised, resulting in a grossly overweight dog (17.4 kgs instead of his recommended weight for a Bichon Frise of between 6 and 8 kgs. He's now losing weight gradually and enjoying his many walks where he has met dozens of dogs. He's happy and so am I.
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing to see Benji' s transformation in such a short space of time. Rescue animals give us so much in return. Sarah x
ReplyDeleteWelcome Jackson and a big wave from Jamie and Digger, my 2rrscue cats who now rule me with paws of iron.
ReplyDeleteGlad Jackson has settled in so quickly. Must be wonderful to have a new feline friend. He looks beautiful. Enjoy. B x
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely photographs of Jackson.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that Jackson and Tavi are getting along ...
Enjoy the remainder of the Bank Holiday Weekend
All the best Jan
Hi Sarah, My first comment! Beautiful cat! We have a rescue dog we called Mate. Not sure what breed - Kelpie (loves to run)/Ridgeback/Shepard - so he's big! He was dumped with his brother at 6 weeks & rescued & fostered by a dedicated group here in Canberra (Australia). He's 4 now & totally spoilt, a beautiful personality & has brought so much love into our home. Love your blog! Best wishes, Mary-Jill
ReplyDeleteJackson looks like a very handsome fellow, and he probably knows he has found a good home. Glad Tavi has got used to him, they will probably be good pals as they grow older.
ReplyDeleteIt is lovely that you have taken in Jackson, and great that he has settled down with you all so quickly.
ReplyDeleteHe looks very contented in the last photo and very much at home.
Love the new kitty. He's so pretty and sweet looking.
ReplyDeleteWhat a handsome cat. He looks very much at home and it's great you can give him a happy home. All our animals (two cats and dog) are rescue pets. The cats used to live in a pub in London and the dog was abandoned in Ireland. They all seem very happy here and we love them. I'm glad Tavi is fine with Jackson - our cats and dog tolerate each other but would never sleep in the same space!
