We awoke on Sunday to blue skies which encouraged us to get out of bed early and we were out walking at Portland Bill almost on our own. The sound of sky larks ( click
here to hear the sound) greeted us as we got out of the car and the air felt so fresh. For once I will just leave you with the pictures!
Thank you for sharing with me your favourite spring flowers and poems in the last post. I have enjoyed discovering some new poems that you have mentioned.

One of my favourite places in the world Sarah. Thanks for taking me there. xx
ReplyDeleteLovely photos...it made me feel like I was right there. Also the link was great!
ReplyDeleteI love Portland Bill - I've only been once when I was perhaps 6 or 7, but I used to love the Portland Bill stories and would love to revisit. There's a photo of my sister and me sat by the lighthouse eating ice creams in our living room!

Dorset was very kind to us over the weekend! Caravan now in situ!! Splendid day in Bridport on Saturday and had coffee and scone at THAT beach café in West Bay on Sunday!!! With fabulous weather like that, I didn't want to go home!! Can't wait for our next jaunt in your neck of the woods!!
ReplyDeleteGlad the caravan is now in situ. Hope it is not too long before you are down this way again. Sarah x
DeleteSuch beautiful sights! What a great way to spend the day. xx
ReplyDeleteSo very beautiful. I am envious that you have a place like this so close by for your walks! The little huts are so enchanting. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeletePicture and sound perfect, Sarah! Thanks so much for posting. In two weeks my sisters and I are planning to rent a house on the coast just south of San Francisco. We are getting so excited since we all love being near the sea! xx
ReplyDeleteLook forward to seeing your pictures of the sea from your holiday . Hope you have a wonderful time. Sarah x
DeleteAhh the shore is just simply too beautiful. It looks like a dream there!
ReplyDeleteOh Sarah, you have a very good eye for pictures - such wonderful photographs.

I have to say that I think you live in one of the most picturesque spots in the world. I love the lighthouse, the rocky beach and the colorful shacks.
ReplyDeleteDid you go up the light house? I did go up approx. 20 years ago, got to the top with jelly legs so not sure if I'd make it now. It is a must visit for 2014 though - along with Abbotsbury. Beautiful pictures as always. Doesn't England look wonderful in the sunshine.
ReplyDeleteNo we didn't go up the lighthouse ,as it was early it was'by open! I haven'nt been up there since the children were young. I should do it again before l am too old! Sarah x
DeleteExquisite. You have captured this wonderful place so beautifully. Lovely header photos too, and the sound of larks is one of my favourite things. Such a good post.
ReplyDeleteSarah ~ this was a wonderful post! The pictures are lovely, and the link for all the sounds is marvelous!! I have spent the last couple of hours indulging myself in many of them ~
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for such a pleasurable post!!!
I know exactly where to turn these days to get my dose of fresh air and spring: YOU. Thank you for always taking us to our mother sea, my friend.
ReplyDeleteI love the sound of the sky larks and it's wonderful to see them up high against a blue sky. Lovely photos of the coast.
ReplyDeleteI bet the postman loves that collection.. when the sun is shining anyway!
ReplyDeleteWe do not have Skylark's here so this was especially nice to hear what you were listening to as you walked along the shore. My Gabriel would have loved to join Daisy on her walk! He's out in our fenced yard right now as I take a break from picking up sticks and raking leaves. My daffodils have come up a few more inches now that Monday's snow has melted. I forgot to mention my favorite Spring flower in your last post. For me it's the Primroses the grocery stores sell here in February because they tide me over until the crocus and daffodils appear in March. Once they quit blooming indoors, I plant them outside.
ReplyDeleteRusty duck stole my line :-) Gorgeous photos Sarah.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your blog and for sharing these beautiful pictures with us. I don't think I'll ever get to your corner of the world so I appreciate you sharing it with us.
ReplyDeleteOh that blue sea! That must have been a lovely walk.
ReplyDeleteIt will probably be very different today with the wind blowing in again and rain expected.
I love Portland Bill, but haven't been for years. What a lovely reminder xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful spot, I adore your photos.
ReplyDeleteAh what a lovely sweet bird song. I especially love that last photo.
ReplyDeleteSomewhere else for my ever-growing list of places to visit-what a beautiful day it was and your photos look amazing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a breathtaking spot!!! x
ReplyDeleteGorgeous images Sarah :)
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful pictures, it's starting to feel a bit like Summer.
ReplyDeleteDespite familiarity with the place, my heart beats with a thump when I see photographs like these. If it weren't that evening's drawing in and the wind is getting up and it looks as if it might rain - I might go dashing over to get another fix.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly did look like a lovely day - fresh, clear and bright - perfect.
ReplyDeleteStunning.
ReplyDeleteS xx
Looks like a wonderful place and those blue skies are so beautiful x
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful pictures and I love the sky lard song!
ReplyDeleteIts such a stunning area Sarah, I know I seem to say that often, but its true. You live in a beautiful area.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you had a good sunny day.
your photos are great.
nice post. xxx val
Gosh, what a lovely blog you've made. I think adding the sound of a sky lark was to a post is such a lovely idea, and your photos are just amazing. I only have a camera on my old Nokia mobile and haven't a clue how to use a proper camera, so I just love to drink in images like yours. I'm looking forward to dipping into your older posts too, Antonia x
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful photos! I clicked over thinking you were in Portland, Maine. Silly me! We are in DC and also have a place in Maine. And we just came home from visiting Emsworth, Portsmouth and Bosham. Cheers, Loi
