A new member of the family!
Apologies for being absent from the blogging world for a few weeks, we have been busy with a new bundle of trouble!
Meet Tavi our 9 week old West Highland terrier puppy. Tavi's name is taken from Tavistock, a town on the edge of Dartmoor, which is a location that means so much to our family. We have had over 14 family holidays in this area over the years, with many happy memories. A few years ago I also discovered that my husbands ancestors had originated from here back in the late 1700's.
We weren't planning to have another dog quite so soon after our dear Daisy died back in August. We have always had second-hand animals before, but one of us happened to notice that there was a breeder in Dorset that had puppies for sale (quite a rare occurance), Once we had seen Tavi there was no going back! So many people had recommended getting a dog from Many Tears Rescue, Most of their dogs wanting homes needed to have another dog present in the house, so sadly it was not to be, but something we may consider again in the future. We met a beautiful adopted female Westie from there a few weeks ago in the fields beyond our home. She was having a wonderful time running with other dogs from her family. They told us how she was still getting used to family life but was still to scared to be attached to a lead.
Tavi's quite difficult to capture at the moment. He is always on the move, unless he is sound asleep or held! So these are just a few of the best ones so far!
I will attempt to read some posts this week, puppy obliging!

Oh! I am so pleased Tavi has arrived to help heal that hole in you heart. He looks just lovely! A bundle of white fluff and fun!!! I know Tavistock very well too. My Dad and Stepmother retired down there! The Pannier market is to die for!! There is also a pet stall for Tavi, if you are planning a visit!!! X
ReplyDeleteI know the pet stall you mentioned,we will be visiting there when he is bigger!

ReplyDeleteHe is so cute! And Twinkle not phased in the slightest!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet pup! Ours died over a year ago and we're just now thinking about another in the next year or so. Love his tinyness!
ReplyDeleteTavi is adorable. My husband would like to buy a white highland terrier for our daughter as a Christmas gift but it isn't an easy decision, I wonder how owr life will be after...
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your new life together!

Tavi is adorable! There have been two male Westie's for sale in our paper--the last of a litter from this summer and "marked down" considerably. I was so tempted! But I don't know how Gabriel would accept another male dog into the house, let alone my husband! I'm glad the ad wasn't in today's paper--maybe they've been taken. As for being concerned about purchasing rather than adopting (I bought Gabriel) I figured if I didn't buy him he'd end up at a rescue center since I'm sure the breeder would not have wanted to keep him. I'm so happy for you Sarah! I look forward to more photos....of Tavi napping, probably since he does seem to be a little bundle of activity. You'll have such great fun roaming the cliffs and walking the beach!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Gabriel was the only Westie with a bunch of other breeds in the lady's house where I got him and he too came over to me along with the others when I got down on the floor. I'd come to check him out before deciding, but there was no deciding to be made once I saw his sweet face. I got our cat almost a year later and he accepted her straight away. He gets a little jealous now though when she sits on my lap and doesn't understand why she's able to get up on the furniture and he's not!
ReplyDeleteSARAH SARAH!!!!!! YESSSSS! I am so excited to meet your new bundle of trouble teeeeeheeeeeeee - We want one so badly, but are waiting just a couple more years until I retire. We are always gone with our work and we fear that our favorite breed (any terrier really, but a westie, fox terrier or cairn are our top choices) would destroy the house!
ReplyDeleteTavi is PRECIOUS!!!!!!
I am so thrilled...
Bless him - he's beautiful xxx
ReplyDeleteDear Sarah,
ReplyDeleteI could not be happier for your heart. I know little Tavi will bring you years of joy..
Don't worry about visiting for now, enjoy your new bundle of love.
blessings,
Penny
Oh my gosh!!! Tavi is adorable! I am so happy for you, Sarah! (Sorry for all the exclamation marks. Can you tell I'm excited?)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful bundle of fluff. I know he will fill your heart with love. We're just thinking now about another dog in the new year. They can never replace the one's we lose, but they do bring a new joy to our lives. Can't wait to see and hear more about Tavi, enjoy every minute of him.
ReplyDeleteSarah, that is the very best reason that I can think of for not posting and blogging. What a cutie and blessed to have a new home with you. It is so sad that your Daisy is gone, I'm sorry.
ReplyDeleteHere's to many happy days with your new little pup.

I hope that you all have a great happy life together, and who knows, perhaps once Tavi is a little older you might be able to bring one of those "second hand" dogs to join him who are looking for some company. Enjoy all that doggie fun and the lovely puppy moments!! xx

Hi Sarah Tavi is sooooo cute and it isn't too soon for another, we lost our dog in August, but now have 2 a Spanish rescue dog Sophie who is a terrier and a Springer Spaniel Humphrey who is nearly 5 months, so much fun and games. We might see you down West Bay while were walking our dogs! Eype Makers Market on Sunday at Highlands End Holiday Park, Eype 10-4.xxxxx
ReplyDeleteWe will be looking out for you too on our walks. I will also come and see you on Sunday at the Makers market. Sarah x
DeleteSarah, welcome to your new family member, she is just so sweet!
ReplyDeleteDon't they say that the most difficult things to photograph are animals and young children? You managed splendidly, the pictures are fine.
We have a very old pug, Maurice, nearly eighteen years old (we also have pug Hugo, ten years old) I always say no more after Maurice goes because now it is just so heartbreaking seeing him now and remembering how he was in the first years.
Never say never though!

Just found you accidently while researching Devon long houses. I am enjoying reading your blog and have much catching up to do. I love where you live, a delightful place. We lived in Devon for 5 years before moving here to Wessex. Adorable new addition to your family, and Twinkle is wonderful too!
ReplyDeleteSo sweet Sarah! Hope Tavi will bring you lots of you and off course sunny walks!

Tavi looks like such wonderful addition to your family, Sarah! I am cheering you on in the settling in process. My youngest son has moved back in our home for a bit as he relocates from East to West coast... a different settling in process for us, but a joyous one as well :) xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful family event you've had! It should go smoothly with Twinkle now that they are getting to know each other when Tavi is only a puppy. My daughter almost gave up when we took the first kitten (our late Jack) and our six-year-old Shetland sheepdog just couldn't stand him at first. They became best friends, naturally.
ReplyDeleteOh Sarah - how wonderful....and so cute. I hope the settling goes well. Xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweetheart he is and I love the name obviously. I can understand you will be VERY busy! xx
ReplyDeleteHe is just adorable, I am so happy for you; and only as big as the cat! He must be wonderful to cuddle Sarah.
ReplyDeleteTavis is adorable. You did the same as us - we got Lulu just 3 weeks after we lost our precious Dorje. And, getting a puppy is like having a baby.
ReplyDeleteHave fun exploring with Tavi.
Tavi is such a cute puppy Sarah!
ReplyDeleteHe looks a total sweetie, but I'm sure he's keeping you on your toes. I love his name :)
ReplyDeleteI'm very pleased for you :) Tavi looks absolutely gorgeous! The photos are so very sweet, and it looks like he's making new friends already :)
