The perfect way to start the day
I always try to have an idea of what I shall write about each week, but so often this plan is never actioned and the beauty of nature determines the post instead!
We awoke to a beautiful frosty morning and as I love sunrises and early morning dog walks I just had to be outside enjoying the sights. The smoke from a building in the valley was drifting towards the sea. (You should be able to click on the image above to see a larger image.)
The old lime kiln area was waterlogged and frosty and this morning it reminded me so much of where "Bilbo Baggins" from the Hobbitt could have livcd!
I enjoyed too the view of the harbour from the top of the cliffs, and a fishing boat going out to sea....
I wasn't the only one out enjoying the views - can you see the person standing on the beach in the distance? The crash of the waves on the cold beach was causing a mist above the pebbles.
Along the harbour wall there was a seasoned fisherman hoping for a catch and also a photographer whose work I always admire. As we stood there chatting and taking pictures layers of mist hovered just over the sea. It was just so magical and so difficult to capture this amazing moment on camera.
It was just a perfect way to start the day!
(I shall leave mice and crocus bulbs until another time!) What puts you in a good mood at the start of the day? Do your blog posts always go according to plan? I seem to have gained quite a few new followers this week, so thank you so much for popping by and also to everyone that visits me so regularly.
Wishing you a good week, until next time.

It's the best time to be out and you were amply rewarded. Great pics Sarah!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures with an interesting, atmospheric narrative.
ReplyDeleteHaha, you can guess what are my favorite moments of the day: early morning walks with Snarf viewing sunrises over the lakes and river. But your views have an added value: the sea, so beautiful! And my blogs often are not according to my plans. I'm always thinking about ideas, but change them at the last moment when something happens what I like to share with you at once.
ReplyDeleteYour so lucky to live in a seaside town Sarah. Beautiful images as always!

Reading about a walk along the water front is a nice way to start out my day! Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI read that starting your day singing a song will raise the positive energy of the whole day. So I sit on the edge of my bed and sing the Mickey Mouse Club 'Hot Dog, Hot Diggity Dog" song. Works wonders.
I can see that starting the day with a song would make me feel good, but I'm not sure what effect my singing would have on the rest of the household! Sarah x
DeleteI never plan my blog posts (well, except things like the Year in Books, which are regular posts) I just write as and when I have something to write about - a few photos, a walk to share or whatever. I couldn't just decided on a few things to write about at the beginning of week!
ReplyDeleteThese are lovely photos from your early morning walk!
I saw the Shire too!!! Wow! Almost think I saw a Hobbit too. What a beautiful place.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I wasn't the only one to see the Shire! Sarah x
DeleteWhat beautiful early morning images Sarah - I enjoyed looking at every single one of them enormously.
ReplyDeleteMy blog posts are mostly spontaneous outpourings about my life, although I have been doing monthly posts tracking my progress or lack there of for some winter stitching. Thanks for taking me along on your early morning walk, Sarah.......so lovely~~~~~~~ xx
ReplyDeleteHello Sarah, I'm so pleased to have found your blog (through Dartford warbler) I loved your beautiful photographs, they captured the morning light perfectly.
ReplyDeleteHello Jane,Welcome and thank you for your comments. Sarah x
DeleteBeautiful dawn photos.
ReplyDeleteQuite inspiring. I think I might start going out for a dawn walk
What beautiful photos! Looks like it was a very early start!
ReplyDeleteWhat a magica post Sarah. Like you , the opportunity to catch nature at its best is something I love. Sadly I usually miss sunrise;by the time I ready myself the moment has passed. Much more a sunset girl! Looking forward to finding out what your mice have been up to :) Barbara xx
ReplyDeleteWonderful pictures to start the day! I? I love to drink a coffee, feeding my cats and in summermoth go into my garden with the coffee and look for my plants.
ReplyDeleteSigrun
I too love an early walk in the garden once the weather warms up! Sarah x
DeleteBeautiful photos Sarah.. a lovely time of the day to be out and about :o)
ReplyDeleteHow lovely! Since the puppy arrived, I've been up and at 'em pretty early every day taking a walk at 5:30am. Unfortunately it's very dark & there's not much to see! Spring is right around the corner here though - I cannot wait!!! xo
ReplyDeleteBeautiful.....right now, I'm just waking up to the sound of a snow plow going by.....and I look out of the window to a fine white shower of snow...no wind....the birds want fed, the dogs want out.....they love to roll in the fresh snow before we clear the deck for them :)
ReplyDeleteThat first photo is an absolute corker, Sarah! Beautiful. My blog posts sometimes start off in one direction and end up in an entirely different one. Sometimes I delete the whole thing and write about something else instead. I usually get my ideas when I'm walking the dog, or in the garden, or in the kitchen, or driving..! Hope it's sunny where you are today – it's lovely here. Sam x
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely, I love these images you've captured :) xxx
ReplyDeleteBeautifully atmospheric images - especially the lime kilns and the golden sunrise.
ReplyDeleteAll the best :)
Absolutely beautiful photos, Sarah, thanks so much for sharing them x
ReplyDeleteWhat puts me in a god moood at the beginning of the day is when people are polite and cheerful at work and not moody and negative.
ReplyDeleteWhen you work , things often evolve differently from what you expect and you need to cope with this.
What I write in my post depends on my mood and it is often something I haven't planned . It is often a craft that makes me happy that day or a thought I have in mind and I want to share.
Thank you for sharing these beautiful photos with us!

Stepping outdoors into my gardens and watching the birds while I sip my tea is how I begin every morning. Then when I am back inside the cottage I still have a view through all the windows with curtains always open. Your views of the sea would make my mornings happy.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to be out and about on such a glorious morning. Your photos are stunning and how I would love to have joined you on your walk. You live is such a scenic area. xx
ReplyDeleteSometimes nature needs to take the wheel as we sit in the passenger seat to take the ride. Lovely captures and visual story of another perfect day.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful!!! I am amazed with the beauty. Whau!! Any cozy bed and breakfast place nearby??? :) I do blogging to make friends. I just read here what it summons up http://islandmusingswithmarie.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeletesecondly so my kids who are far away can see a few things I am doing. I never really put on a lot of thoughts in my posts...just what may came to mind. Thank you for sharing this great post!
Hi Sarah,
ReplyDeleteLovely post and photos and I enjoyed seeing the perfect start to your day. The frosty look of the area around the old lime kiln, the sunrise and the beautiful harbour views are all so dreamy.
Thanks for visiting and as for Jandals, you may know of them as flip flops which our Australian friends call them.
Hope you are enjoying the week
hugs
Carolyn
If I had your morning view, I'd definitely start my day that way. Instead, I get my coffee, climb back into bed with Gabriel by my side, write in my journal and read my devotionals, while I wait for the sun to appear over the cliff on our little mountain through my window.
ReplyDeleteThanks for this, Sarah, you capture a West Bay early morning in a very evocative way!
ReplyDeleteThe rising mist is exquisite. A nice way to start the day indeed.
ReplyDeleteIf your posts don't always go as planned it matters not - they are always spectacular, perfectly photographed and inspiring. Just lovely, thank you.
ReplyDeleteHaving a dog must be a great way to get you out in the morning. My morning often starts sitting at the window with a cup of tea looking out at the garden watching the birds or on some days watching the cat lying in wait for the birds which she never manages to catch! My blog posts never seem to go as planned
ReplyDeleteMy blog posts never go as planned because I rarely plan them.
ReplyDeleteMy little visit to England today looked quite gray (or do you spell it grey?). I guess that is quite common at the sea this time of year for you.
Beautiful photos.
Hello dear Sarah,
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy seeing the beautiful seaside town where you live. One never tires of the sea. I dont at least. Even when its rough it fascinates me.
wishing you a happy weekend. val xx
