Down by the Sea Views February- May 2025

February sunset over Lyme Bay

Apologies, my plans at the beginning of the year to share more coastal views just haven't happened! This has been due to lack of time rather than any other reason! As compensation, here are some images of the coastline in Dorset over the last few months!

The iconic sandstone cliffs at West Bay were made famous through the TV Series Broadchurch. Unfortunately, cliff falls are a common occurrence, so caution is necessary.

Pier Terrace, West Bay

On 28th March, a herd of decorated elephants arrived in West Dorset for eight weeks, thanks to Stampede by the Sea, a Wild in Art event aimed at raising funds and awareness for our local hospice and community care service. Fifty-eight elephants were positioned around West Bay, Bridport, and Lyme Regis, adorned by national and local artists. They have brought immense fun, interest, awareness, and funds for the hospice service. This week, the herd was taken away and will be auctioned off in mid-June.

I met another herd this time some Red Devon Cattle at West Bexington. It was a magnificent sight watching them being herded along the beach to spring pastures. It was such a reward for our group, who were spending the morning litter picking along the same stretch of beach.

Lyme Regis

Our Spring has been so warm and very dry, it has felt like summer here, bur without the crowds!

Chesil Beach at Cogden

The last few weeks we have been enjoying an abundance of spring flowers ,,,,

I hope you enjoyed the coastal views - hopefully more to come soon!
