Sunshine and sea
I can always find things to make me smile especially when the sun shines!
A cold wind was blowing so the deckchairs were not being used!
In Weymouth we have also seen the sun, we even treated ourselves to an ice-cream, the first one this year!

I recently saw these lines painted on a wall - I have already quoted the first verse in a previous post - the second one made me smile!
Wishing you a fun week, hope you find lots of things to make you smile!
Sarah
I was at the Dutch sea today, near Kijkduin, the Hague. About a half hour drive from our home. It was cold and sunny and we made a lovely walk. Lovely greetings, Jolanda
ReplyDeleteSunshine at last! Lots of people out and about in Brixham too. Still not had my first ice cream. I love the sunshine reflecting off the slate roof.
ReplyDeleteA classic English seaside view - the tides out, the pier is spruced up for the summer, and the deck chairs are stacked nicely catching the breeze off the sea.
ReplyDeleteWe had some sun during the week but grey skies and some rain over the weekend. The Spike Milligan verse made me smile. Hope you have a great week.

ReplyDeletehope you enjoyed your icecream.

Hello Sarah, Oh, how you always make me "Smile" with your very lovely photos down by the sea...Thanks for sharing. Hugs Judy
ReplyDeleteOh Sarah, my favorite scape on earth: the sea.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this refreshing post! Anita
In the 7 years I lived on the northern California coast in Crescent City I was amazed that I often felt as though I were on a private beach because there were so few folks out and about no matter what the time of year. I suspect that your beaches get much more crowed in hot weather, yes?
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the beauty around you...and the fun verse :-)
Gracie
Yes it does get very crowded in good weather, although it is too cold to go in the sea it's is nice to have it almost to yourself at this time of year.

It looks like a lovely day. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos, I missed the sound of the waves crashing this morning as we are back home and bake to normal.
ReplyDeleteBournemouth and Weymouth both look beautiful - not too far from here either, it would be lovely to see them again this summer. Lovely happy post Sarah. Claire xo
ReplyDeletegreat shots, looks like a beautiful place. love those deck chairs ;)

Oh Sarah, I share the same passion for sea, there are golden sand beaches in Greece too, mainly in the islands but of course the landscape is totally different! There is nothing better than a walk or a summer swim and a sun bath on a beach like this...
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely week !
Olympia
I think I need to have a paddle!!! :) x
ReplyDeleteLovely seasides, and good ole Spike! I too must go down to the sea again, I go slightly stir crazy when I can't walk along the listening to the waves and feeling those vibes you only get from walking beside the sea..... S:)
ReplyDeleteLove all those deckchairs. Looks very windy though - I keep thinking it is getting warm until I remember there's a serious wind chill up here at the moment. Juliex
ReplyDeleteI love your posts about Weymouth. It looks like such a nice place to live, with the sandy beach and the harbour. It's on my house-hunting list! I know Bournemouth pretty well too, but feel it's too big and busy, though youngest is at uni there and loves it.
ReplyDeleteBournemouth is a big and busy OK for an occasional visit. Good luck with your house hunting we prefer the quieter areas of Purbeck or West Dorset.

Blue blue seas and skies... so clean and lovely...and I can almost feel the wind and the fresh fresh air! and see all those 'white horses' being whipped up...reminds me of my childhood in Sunderland where we spent many happy hours on the beach with sand in everything! my Mum was very brave taking 4 of us there!
ReplyDeleteGood old Spike! Lovely photos Sarah. Bournemouth with the sun out and the wind blowing a hoolie is probably the best time to see the sand- sun and warm days and it disappears beneath thousands of people!
ReplyDeleteWent to Bournemouth a couple of times recently. Love the town. Couldn't get on with the beach.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos Sarah, love the poem too...!!
ReplyDeleteWe've been to Weymouth in the sunshine this weekend and my favourite place of all Lyme Regis. It was a lovely blue skies weekend if a little windy. Beautiful pictures. Sarah x
ReplyDeleteGorgeous blue sky! Gorgeous beaches! Gorgeous pictures! You make me long for some seaside! Wish I lived closer to a beach just like that.
ReplyDeleteMarian
That's a proper British seaside if ever there was one -lovely photos! Spike Milligan always makes me smile.
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful places! The second quote made me laugh! The thing that is making me smile this week is looking forward to our friends from England arriving at the end of the week. :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a glorious stretch of beach that is, a little bit of sunshine makes me smile a bit more too, have a great week. ps Love the Spike Milligan quote!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos - as always. It looks lovely there.
ReplyDeleteWow, what an amazing place! Love your photos. Thank you so much for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLove the poem too :-) Is that your daughter on the second photo Sarah? She looks beautiful. The sea looks impressive with those big white waves.
ReplyDeleteHappy day!

There is a lovely clarity about your photographs Sarah. You capture the essence of the day.
ReplyDeleteA lovely walk was yours. The quotes make me smile.
ReplyDeleteSpike is not the only one to leave his shoes on the beach. It amazes me the number of shoes I find on the beach on Monday mornings.
ReplyDeleteIt is not warm enough yet for ice cream.
YOur post made me smile, Sarah! The pictures made me smell the salty sea air. Christa
ReplyDeleteLove the Spike Milligan verse and lovely pictures of course I get my daily dose of Dorset from your posts
ReplyDeleteDear Sarah,
ReplyDeleteNothing like beautiful blue skies, sea and sunshine, to make you smile.
I loved seeing your gorgeous photos of your trip to the beach and the photo of your beautiful daughter. Enjoyed the quotes too.

Such beautiful photos. I long for the beach this time of year...
ReplyDeleteSpike Milligan!! Haven't heard his name in a few years now...you got me googling )))
I'm loving all this sunshine although it still feels a little cold. Just showed my husband your pictures of Weymouth as he used to go there when on NATO exercises.
ReplyDeleteIt almost looks like summer, which in a way it is I suppose, the ancients believed summer began on May Day.
ReplyDeleteLove the Milligan verse!
Yes it really did make me smile! Your pics plus the hilarious Spike!! Many thanks for the smiles!
ReplyDeleteHello Sarah,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment and visit. I'm glad you enjoyed the photos of my larkspurs. Yes, they are a tough seed to sow. I was happy that the small amount that sprouted. Lovely photos there. I would love to live by the sea. One area in Northern California I am in love with is Monterey. I wish Hubby and I can move up there. Thanks for the stroll on the beach and I like the second poem too. Very cute. Have a lovely day. : )

Hi Sarah,
ReplyDeleteJust a note to say thank you for a lovely blog that I will return to again and again as, just like you, I love the sea!
We live in Surrey but are blessed to have a house on the beautiful island of Portland, near Weymouth. We visit as often as we can as we feel that "By the sea, all worries wash away".
One of the highlights of my year is when the sea pinks on the causeway come into bloom and there is a wonderful carpet of pink all along the road. I look forward to it and the beautiful flowers in April/May always signal that summer is on the way!
Keep up the great work with your blog. You make a lot of people smile and remind us how beautiful the British coastline is and how many wonderful places there are to visit. :)
Thank you for those kind words and welcome! The sea thift is such a wonderful site along the causeway although it seems to have appeared later than usual this year. We went in that direction 3 weeks running to try and see it and it was still not fully out! How lucky to have a house on Portland, you will often see it featured here!
