Down the lane

The weather forecast on Sunday was for rain, as it was bright and sunny after we had finished our breakfast we decided to get out before the rain appeared! Our plan had been to take a short stroll on a beach nearby but the admission charges for car parking had increased to £5 since our last visit and so our walk was only with distant sea views.

A traditional Dorset barn in the distance.

This is the etched glass window in the little wooden church close to the edge of the cliff showing the beautiful scenery around the church.

Wishing you a Happy week.

  1. £5.00!!!! Scandalous. St Ives parking charges are pretty steep too. Lovely pictures of your alternative walk.

  4. This looks like a super walk - where is it in Dorset? I must thank you for telling me about the little nursery in Colyton - we paid a visit and came back home with a cockerel (not a real one) and some mirrored balls. I have placed them on a post a few posts back. Thanks for the recommendation, we would never have found it otherwise!

    1. Hi June, Glad you liked the nursery at Colyton. This is at Holworth along the coast path above Ringstead just East of Weymouth. There are various places you can park. The nearest is at the national trust car park above Ringstead, or you could pay the £5 to park at Ringstead or for a much longer walk park at Osmington Mills. If you need any further information please let me know.

  5. car parking is so expensive these days! It's great when the weather is warm enough to go on the motor bike as there are no charges for those!

  13. The window is beautiful! Would be interested to know where the Church is. Is it open to visitors or only at service times?

    1. The church is at Holworth above Ringstead Bay,the coast path passes right by it. See this link http://www.watercombe.org.uk/holworth.htm. We have in the past been inside but I can't remember if it open all the time. My photo of the window was taken from the outside so it is the wrong way around. There are benches in the grave yard overlooking the sea and it is a very peaceful and quiet place.

  15. Beutiful pictures Sarah, I feel like I'm almost there! I love the window in the church ...

Such a pity about the £5 car park fee, can make a day out at the beach rather steep, with cost of ice creams etc xx

  32. The barn is a lovely traditional shape, and I do admire the little wooden church too. Being curious, as I know you are too, I managed to translate the writing on the etched glass with the aid of a mirror!!!

  38. What a lovely walk with great views, we wouldn't have paid the parking either £5 sounds to high a price.

  39. The car parking charges are infuriatingly high if you don't want to spend an entire day on the beach. We've had the same problem. Lovely pics as always Sarah.

  40. Liebe kleine Meerjungfrau,
